Giant kettle

This Moroccan kettle was probably used to heat water for bathing.  Antique, well-made, no leaks.

Large size
This is the traditional Fes couscous maker: Mounds of semolina are steamed in the tin-lined colander poised above the fragrant stew in the pot below.  Antique.  Copper lined with tin.  Has a leak (repairable).

Tuareg teapot
 

7.5” x 9”

In the Sahara, tea is made in small pots like this, but it is very strong.  This teapot is really a piece of jewelry, made by skilled Touareg smiths.  The graceful pewter form is decorated with copper overlays.  The handle, which has built-in heat diffusers, is embellished with intricate lamination of brass, silver and ebony, and the similarly laminated top knob contains an element of translucent crystal.

Kettle fits tightly into the brazier/base and the whole thing may be carried by the handle.  Hand-made and engraved.

Heavy, antique Moroccan jug with handle and detached lid.  Somewhat battered hand-hammered copper shows signs of time.

Martellated brass conical lid tops a round pan on three little legs.  This ceremonial breadbox or cake-box would have been employed at weddings and similar events in Marrakech.

Heavy, antique jug with wide mouth, used to bring water from a well in a Moroccan village.

lantern (fnar)

An elaborate candle lantern in heavy perforated brass.  With Iraqi milk glass on the arched panels, two small blue concave glass decorations on each panel, and red and blue glass on the bottom that is visible when the lamp is hanging. This piece was uniquely commissioned by an artisan who specializes in antique reproductions.
