Moroccan Ceramics

Morocco's tradition of polychrome painted ceramic glazes in geometric patterns has roots in the Andalusian culture of moorish Spain. The low-fired terracotta of the Berber storage jars have simple linear designs that recall traditional tattoo patterns.

Beni Ouarain, Middle Atlas Mountains.  This suggestively shaped terra cotta vessel was suspended from a tripod by its handles and rocked to and fro until the cream in it turned to butter.
